NEWLY-ACQUIRED AMERICASBANK BECOMES CFG COMMUNITY BANK

Newly-Acquired AmericasBank becomes CFG Community Bank
Institution to Focus on Community Banking and Small Business Lending

Baltimore, Md. – Capital Funding Bancorp, Inc., which acquired AmericasBank and its three Maryland branches in August, is renaming the institution and each branch as CFG Community Bank as part of its broader efforts to strengthen the institution and build its presence in the Maryland market.

“This bank is part of the CFG family and that means it will be strong, well-capitalized and capable of providing a whole range of services, especially for small businesses,” said Capital Funding Bancorp Chairman Jack Dwyer. “But we are also keeping this a community bank. This is our community: These aren’t just customers, these are our friends and neighbors.”

Capital Funding Bancorp, Inc. was started earlier this year by Dwyer, the owner of Capital Funding Group of Baltimore. Capital Funding Group is a nationally-known healthcare lender, having made more than $1 billion in loans for healthcare facilities with mortgages insured by the Federal Housing Administration.

“We are especially proud that we accomplished so much without any federal money, without any funds coming from the TARP program,” said Dwyer, referring to so-called “bail out” funds provided to some institutions under the federal Troubled Asset Relief Program.

Since taking over AmericasBank, CFG has injected more than $34 million in new capital into the institution and transferred highly profitable loans previously held by Capital Funding Group. The result has been a reinvigorated and financially stronger institution that stands ready to service a wide range of clients.

“CFG has a great reputation and our vision – for a true community bank that can provide all the services of larger institutions – is their vision. We couldn’t have asked for a better partner,” said CFG Community Bank President and CEO A. Patrick Linton. “Small businesses need a strong partner who knows them and who will stand by in good times and tough times. We’re glad we can be that partner.”

AmericasBank previously operated as Towson Community Bank in Towson, Md., Annapolis Community Bank in Annapolis, Md. and AmericasBank in the Highlandtown neighborhood of Baltimore. All three branches remain open and serving customers. Headquarters for the newly-named bank will be moved to the CFG Tower at 1422 Clarkview Road in Baltimore.

CFG Community Bank is a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
