CLASSIC ROCK STARS UNITE IN DC FOR ELVIS’ BIRTHDAY CHARITY CONCERT
Vanilla Fudge, Blue Oyster Cult, The Alarm join local artists to support
Love Hope Strength Foundation against Cancer
Washington, DC: CFG Community Bank is hosting a special concert at DC’s Pearl St. Warehouse honoring Elvis Presley’s birthday on January 8, 2019 benefiting Love Hope Strength, a foundation that works to fight cancer and save lives, one concert at a time.
Performers include Vanilla Fudge, Blue Oyster Cult’s Buck Dharma, Mike and Jules Peters of The Alarm, and a backing band drawn from some of DC’s best local bands including White Ford Bronco, The Ron Holloway Band, Free Lobster Buffet, The Side Dish, The Deplorables and others. The show features renditions of some of Elvis’ greatest songs as well as signature hits from the bands.
“We’re hugely grateful to everyone involved in this event, which sounds like it’s going to be a fantastic night!” said Mike Peters, who founded the organization.
“Over a decade ago myself and a friend who’d also been diagnosed with leukemia founded the Love Hope Strength Foundation. Our mission was to give hope to families affected by cancer, and with the fantastic support of event organizers and volunteers across the USA and UK we can continue to do just that,” Peters said.
“We’re thrilled to support this event,” said Jack Dwyer, owner of CFG Community Bank, which is sponsoring the concert. “The work that Mike and Jules Peters have done with this foundation to save lives is inspiring and we’re very lucky to have so many performers joining us. I think Elvis would be proud.”
A local bank deeply dedicated to serving the area, CFG has a strong history of charity, including a recent $100,000 donation to the the Capital Gazette Memorial Scholarship Fund in the wake of the tragic shootings at the paper on June 28, 2018.
